We are excited to announce that a benefactor has purchased a large building in a prime location, ensuring our growth and success! We want to thank all of you for your past support and in particular those of you that gave generously during the serious flood last winter. I can promise you will delight in seeing our new museum. Stay tuned for our opening.
Now located in the heart of the Museum District of San Francisco, blocks from other leading museums, including The Museum of Modern Art, The Children’s Creativity Museum, Contemporary Jewish Museum, Cartoon Art Museum and California Historical Society, we are within walking distance of the Union Square shopping district. We now enjoy cable car, MUNI Bus, and B.A.R.T access and are two blocks from the city’s largest parking garage. Our proximity to the convention center will allow us to host events for members, companies and other organizations, conventioneers as well as local members of the public.
With the support of our members and visitors, we will expand on our existing exhibits and programs to include a fully functioning 19th century bookbindery, print shop, and new exhibits on papermaking. We also plan to have a reading room with librarian-assisted access to our extensive collection of bookbinding literature.
